Jules Gabriel Verne (1828 – 1905) was a French novelist, poet, and playwright.
His most known work came from collaboration with the publisher Pierre-Jules Hetzel which led to the creation of the Voyages extraordinaires, a widely popular series of adventure novels including the two presented in this book, Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).
Verne has sometimes been called the "Father of Science Fiction" and he is the second most-translated author in the world in the last four decades.

A simple life in a small village in the midst of the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains and lakes was always Granvill's dream. But when he made the choice to retire, was he in full control of his plan or did fate have something else in store for him?

Through Granvill's personal journey, this truthful yet imaginative, warm, and gentle story explores topics like our place in society, the expectations from others, relationships between family and strangers, the effect of inevitable changes, fate, balance, love, friendship, and humanity.
